Project Background
Global Health Strategies (GHS) collaborates with a leading international development organization to advance its objectives by researching and analyzing policy, providing evidence-based information, and developing targeted, audience-specific communications. This includes designing and implementing strategic communications plans and fostering impactful stakeholder engagement. GHS organizes high-profile events during major international development moments such as the World Health Assembly, African Union Summit and United Nations General Assembly, and facilitates tailored discussions with decision makers in priority countries in Africa. By aligning these tools into a comprehensive strategy, GHS ensures the effective dissemination of client initiatives and drives informed decision-making to advance the organization’s goals in select countries in Africa.
Key Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic professional to serve as a Senior Program Associate, with a proven ability to analyze complex concepts, create compelling content for a variety of audiences and disseminate it via the most appropriate channel. This role requires a track record of executing high-impact campaigns, spearheading the organization of advocacy events, and getting journalists excited about an issue or announcement.
The successful candidate will support the design and execution of comprehensive communications strategies, including the development and oversight of key media collaterals such as press releases, reports, and thought leadership pieces. They will Identify strategic moments and new champions to build awareness among target stakeholders and amplify our clients’ strategic goals. They will also be responsible for getting partners on the same page through careful coordination, relationship management and message alignment.
This role demands a collaborative, passionate advocate who is also a creative communicator and an outstanding project manager. As leaders of small teams, our Senior Associates work well with others and can lead on critical client interactions. The consultant may also support similar high-level initiatives across other priority projects as required.
Required Qualifications
• A Bachelors’ Degree, preferably in a social science, public health, international relations or communications with at least 3 to 6 years of progressively relevant professional experience.
• Fluent French
• Master’s degree in research/development/public policy/ business or development management will be an asset.
• Experience in project management, consulting, campaigns, managing teams, creating knowledge products, ecosystem engagement and policy.
• Preferrable experience in working with senior government officials.
• Master’s degree is an asset.
• Excellent communication, writing, and editing skills with a demonstrated ability to write for media and social media.
• Passion for health communication and advocacy, and a commitment to our clients’ mission and goals in the health-related industry.
