Activities of the position
Job description and purpose
The Foundation is seeking a motivated post-doctoral fellow to join the Epidemiology and Data Science team (EDS) at the Institut Pasteur de Dakar. Under the supervision of the head of the ‘Data Analysis’ team, the fellow will:
• Contribute to the development and application of epidemiological and economic models.
• Analyze health and economic data from project studies.
• Support capacity-building activities and contribute to policy-relevant communications.
• Contribute to the coordination and animation of the scientific work at the consortium level
Keys responsibilities
• The selected candidate will design and implement statistical and mathematical modelling analyses to support the CLEAR-AFRICA project. She/He will develop context-specific epidemiological–economic models and analytical tools for epidemic preparedness and response.
• The selected candidate will also contribute to interdisciplinary public health research, publish findings in peer-reviewed journals, and foster collaborations with CLEAR-AFRICA partner institutions across Africa.
Required profile
• Proficiency in programming languages such as R and/or Python for statistical modeling and data analysis.
• Expertise in data visualization tools and methods to communicate complex findings effectively. Knowledge of database management systems for handling large datasets.
• Good understanding of public health systems and the application of predictive analytics.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills (English and French)

Education required
• Ph.D. in epidemiology, biostatistics, health economics, mathematical modelling or a related field.
• Previous experience in biostatistics is an advantage.
• Knowledge of public health issues and responses to epidemics in Africa as familiarity with macroeconomic and microeconomic modelling methods is an asset.
