RTI’s International Education division was just awarded a 5-year, $55M cooperative agreement from USAID/Senegal to improve girls’ and boys’ reading outcomes in kindergarten through second grade by increasing the capacity of the Senegalese education system through institutional support and targeted assistance in nine regions of Senegal
Responsibilities
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the IT Manager, the IT Assistant will be responsible for providing maintenance and support services to the project.
Technical Support :
• Support staff to access RTI networks, email, productivity software, printers, etc. using RTI-purchased laptops.
• Provide technical support to individuals and project activities, assist with the use of technology equipment. Assist staff through a variety of actions to resolve IT issues, either in person or by phone
• Resolve issues on project computers, printing issues and configure access to office printers and copiers. Perform network troubleshooting and resolve internet connectivity issues when possible.
• Ensure the maintenance (software and hardware) of all computer equipment.
• Perform electrical safety checks on IT equipment as needed.
• Perform other tasks related to the IT management of the project as requested
• Provide a detailed inventory sheet for software and licenses used in the office for each laptop individually.
• Ensure the proper functioning of the communication system.
• Ensure the maintenance and repair of telecommunications equipment in cooperation with service providers.
• Keep track and ensure correction of Sonatel invoices.
• Maintain proper functioning of all computer and telecommunications equipment.
• Participate in the purchasing of computer and telecommunications equipment, in collaboration with the Procurement and Inventory Officer.
• Conduct a physical and electronic filing of all documents related to the IT system.
Network Administration:
• Perform preventive maintenance on project hardware and software systems on a monthly basis.
• Install new systems or hardware required for the efficient operation of the project’s computer network.
• Perform network monitoring and analysis, resolve all issues and ensure functional network connectivity for users.
• Assist in the installation and configuration of operating systems and hardware applications for users according to the standards and procedures in effect
Qualifications
Required Skills and Qualifications
• Licence degree in relevant coursework (i.e., computer science)
• 6 years of experience in support of IT
• 2 years of experience as an IT Assistant on a USAID project
• Knowledge of administrative and security organization of Senegal (preferred)
• Knowledge of security arrangements in local management office(preferred)
• Knowledge of computer networks and network administration
• Knowledge of writing and executing MS SQL commands to extract data and the use of Ms Access
• Knowledge in programming (VBA, PHP, HTML, XML, SQL)
• Experience in hardware and software user support
• Have the right to work in Senegal
• Good understanding of english language and other Senegalese languages a plus.
