For more information, see our website: www.shelter.org SFL plans to implement a seven-year program in Senegal, Gambia, and Guinea-Bissau to develop and improve the value chain linkages needed to support an integrated regional cashew nut trade network. The proposed program will consider these links in four program components: (1) market infrastructure, (2) financial services, (3) market access and connections, and (4) good agricultural practices. The program "Linking
infrastructure, finance, and cashew nut farms" will create sustainable trade infrastructure, improve access to financial services, organize and train small farmers to increase their production and negotiating capacity, and strengthen the capacity of local processors to add value to nuts in the cashew production area in West Africa.

Position Summary:
SFL is looking for a French-to-English and vice versa translator who must not only meet the technical requirements but must also demonstrate great integrity and be perfectly clear about their role. Duties And Responsibilities:
• Provide simultaneous interpretation during exchanges between Senegal office managers and HQ staff.
This requires exceptional listening skills and the ability to convey spoken words accurately and promptly.
• Offer consecutive interpretation, where the speaker pauses to allow the interpreter to convey the spoken message to the other party. This method is often used in meetings or discussions.
• Translate official documents, agreements, and other written materials accurately from one language to another- French English-French and local languages.
• Provide written translations of discussions and deliberations during staff meetings, ensuring that the minutes and important points are accurately documented in the desired languages and timely manner.
• Verify the concordance and accuracy of different language versions of international agreements before they are signed. This ensures consistency and precision across all language documents.
• Maintain and update the project-specific terminology database. This involves adding new terms, phrases, or industry-specific jargon to ensure consistency in translations.
• Employ new translation tools and software to enhance efficiency and accuracy in translation work.
• Provide interpretation services during meetings, negotiations, or any interactions requiring language support.
• Demonstrate expertise in various interpretation techniques, such as simultaneous, consecutive, escort, or whispering interpretation, adapting the approach based on the context and requirements.
• Exhibit strong written translation skills, including the ability to convey complex ideas and legal or technical terminology accurately.
• Possess perfect knowledge of at least two foreign languages, ensuring fluency in both spoken and written forms.
• Understand cultural nuances and subtleties in languages, ensuring that translations and interpretations are culturally appropriate.

• Coordinate closely with the Admin/HR officer to understand specific requirements and expectations
regarding translations and interpretations.
• Be open to feedback from both Senegal office managers and HQ staff, making necessary adjustments to translations and interpretations based on received feedback.

Position Qualifications and Required Profile:
• University degree in English and/or translation and interpreter at least BAC +4;
• At least 2 years of professional experience as an interpreter in humanitarian projects, preferably with non-profit organizations.
• Good knowledge of interpreter tools.
• Strong knowledge of IT tools.
• Strong report writing and presentation skills.
• Very good command of English and French, both orally and in writing.
