Location:
Flexible in Africa Region. Senegal, Ethiopia or Kenya preferred. Other location where Oxfam is present, and you have the existing right to work


Contract: 4 years fixed term
One Oxfam Grade: C2
Salary and benefits: National
Oxfam International is unable to guarantee the obtaining of a work permit for the role. Candidates must already have and be able to retain the legal right to work in the location where they are based. We are not able to support the relocation of a candidate to take up the position in an Oxfam location.

THE ROLE
Oxfam International’s Africa Platform is looking for a Digital Content Advisor who will develop the Digital and Content Strategy and ensure its implementation. These activities will increase Oxfam's visibility and influence in Africa. It will also support the campaigns led by the Africa Platform, countries or cluster, on the online mobilization component.

WE’RE LOOKING FOR A PERSON WITH
• At least a degree in media studies or journalism, communications, social media, Library/Information Science or Archival Studies or Information Science or related studies.
• Substantive experience as a journalist or social media/communications specialist or web writer, community manager.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in French is desirable.
• Experience of communicating/ telling stories using social networks and other digital tools.
• A deep understanding of current digital media trends, including tools and content consumption patterns.
• Experience of working in regional (Africa) social media. Global social media is an added advantage.
• Exceptional multi-media and story-gathering skills.
• Ability to conceptualise, design and deliver stories to diverse audiences.
• Ability to lead complex projects and Knowledge of how the national, continental, and international media works.

• Ability to represent the organisation in high-profile and high-pressured external environments.
• Ability to use various social media platforms to support Oxfam’s campaigns and programmes and strong understanding of how the social media can be used to fundraise and influence change.
• Ability to develop creative ways to engage the public on emergencies and development work.
• Ability to manage brand and design guidelines as applies to all OiA social network by all staff, suppliers, and partners.
• Knowledge of the international development and humanitarian context.
• Ability to produce high-quality digital communications products within tight deadlines.
• Ability to edit video, use Photoshop or other graphic design/ publishing tools.
• Experience in managing teams, working with different cultures and working with geographically dispersed teams.
• Innovative and creative approach to problem solving.
• Broad knowledge of ingesting, editing and archiving digital media for film production and photography.
• Awareness of ethical issues in the context of AV work and ability to deal sensitively with them.
• Awareness of legal issues in relation to AV material.
• Organisational skills, and the ability to organise own workload efficiently, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Ability to understand and accept the requirement for sensitivity/confidentiality when handling information.
