For the purpose of this vacancy, internal candidates are considered first-tier candidates.

Context
The Migrant Protection, Return and Reintegration Programme for Sub-Saharan Africa (MPRR-SSA) is a regional initiative funded by the European Union and implemented by IOM across 16 countries. It aims to contribute to the protection of vulnerable and stranded migrants—including through assisted voluntary return—and to their sustainable reintegration within Sub-Saharan Africa.
The MPRR-SSA provides holistic, migrant-centered services across the return and reintegration continuum, including direct assistance in transit, post-arrival support, and tailored reintegration assistance.
Within this framework, the Senior Communications Associate (Multimedia) will play a key role in supporting the programme’s visibility and storytelling efforts. Under the overall supervision of the Senior Regional Programme Coordinator and the direct supervision of the Regional Media and Communications Lead, the incumbent will support the preparation, dissemination, and archiving of multimedia content that reflects the programme’s impact and follows IOM’s institutional standards and donor visibility requirements.
The incumbent will work closely with country offices, implementing partners, and regional stakeholders to help produce multimedia outputs that are technically appropriate, ethically handled and aligned with MPRR-SSA’s communications and visibility goals. This role contributes to strengthening the programme’s regional narrative, supporting donor engagement, and amplifying the voices of migrants and returnees through quality visual storytelling.

Responsibilities
• Assist in developing multimedia content (short videos, photography, audio) to document MPRR-SSA activities, success stories, reintegration processes, and regional events, in coordination with country offices and in line with IOM ethical storytelling standards.
• Support the preparation and layout of communication materials, including campaign visuals, social media graphics, banners, factsheets, presentations, and branded templates, maintaining consistency with IOM’s visual identity.
• Provide technical support during regional events and field missions, including audiovisual documentation, equipment setup, and multimedia logistics.
• Support the ethical collection, consent documentation, and secure archiving of visual materials in line with IOM data protection and communications guidelines.
• Assist in managing and maintain a structured multimedia asset archive, including proper labelling, metadata input, and file retrieval systems.
• Support the review of visual content submitted by country offices and implementing partners to verify alignment with IOM branding and donor visibility guidelines.
• Contribute to the development of visibility and donor reporting packages by compiling relevant multimedia materials and performance indicators.
• Assist in capacity building to country focal points and implementing partners in visual storytelling, ethical communications, and branding through feedback and guidance.
• Perform other related duties as may be assigned.

• High school diploma with six years of relevant professional experience; or, Bachelor’s degree in Multimedia Production, Digital Media, Visual Communication, Journalism, Graphic Design, Communication Arts, or a related field from an accredited academic institution, with four years of relevant professional experience.

• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop), Canva, and other editing tools.
• Experience working in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Familiarity with consent protocols, ethical storytelling, and digital asset management.

Skills
• Strong visual storytelling and post-production skills.
• Ability to work independently under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Capacity to coordinate and collaborate with remote teams across multiple countries.
