PATH’s Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases (MNTD) program is a leader in the effort to end malaria illnesses and deaths, refines and develops tools and approaches, invests in national programs, and builds data to empower national governments to pursue malaria elimination.
The Center for Vaccine Innovation and Access (CVIA) at PATH works in partnership to develop and deliver lifesaving vaccines to women, children, and communities around the globe. Over the last three decades our work has resulted in more than 24 vaccines against the most dangerous childhood illnesses.
PATH seeks a Start-up/SMC Consultant for Senegal to support start-up of activities for multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
• Develop detailed start-up plan for lifesaving malaria and/or infectious disease surveillance activities in partnership with PATH team.
• Collaborate with the PATH Senegal team and projects’ global teams to align on priority activities, recruiting needs, and operational needs in compliance with USG contract regulations
• Ensure up-to-date tracking of all processes in centralized/on-line document.
• Participate in frequent meetings to get or give updates on various start-up activities.
• Identify, mitigate, and elevate potential risks during start-up phase.
• Partner with PATH’s Regional Operational Lead to ensure alignment with organizational requirements.
Technical Assistance
• Liaise with Ministry of Health officials to inform workplan design and prioritization of activities, in line with guidance from USG on lifesaving activities.
• Coordinate with PATH MNTD Global technical teams to draft workplan(s), aligning with project-level guidance.
• Support operational planning for SMC campaign, including liaising with Ministry of Health on microplans, training, and logistics; liaising with PATH country finance teams for relevant procurements of supplies and payments to community health workers, and other SMC planning tasks as needed.
Human Resources & Office Planning
Support recruitment efforts (sourcing, interviews, onboarding) as required
Travel
Consultants currently located in Dakar are preferred. For in-country travel that is required, PATH will support accommodation and expenses for agreed sub-national visits. Agreement on the purpose and dates of travel will be needed prior to travel authorization. Covered travel will include meals and incidental expenses (M&IE), lodging, and travel expenses (i.e., car hire). Reasonable mileage and/or taxi fares for in-person meetings required in Dakar will be reimbursed.
Requirements
• Demonstrated experience with project start-up and malaria service delivery in Senegal (10+ years)
• Demonstrated experience with USAID/USG contracts and/or cooperative agreements
• Demonstrated experience working with the Ministry of Health and PNLP
• Demonstrated experience planning and supporting seasonal malaria chemoprevention campaigns
• Fluency in English and French
• Currently based in Dakar
