Elite RH recrits a Local Senegal Accountant.
Overall purpose of the role
The role will report to the Finance Manager and be based in the Dakar office. The jobholder will be responsible for the provision of day-to-day accounting support to the Finance Manager and the in-country team. Working within a financially controlled environment, the position will work closely with Finance teams in the UK and China. The jobholder will contribute to Financial and Management Reporting for Senegalese operations. The role will also involve some administrative duties as directed by the Finance Manager.
Accounting and reporting
The jobholder will be involved in account reconciliations, interrogation of cost reports, preparation, validation and posting of accounting entries. There will be an opportunity to be involved in day-to-day operations of the Senegal business, learn cost assignment rules and work closely with Accounts Payable as an in-country focal point for supplier invoices. The jobholder will help during statutory audits.
Tax
The individual will be responsible for day-to-day tax compliance. This will include obtaining VAT stamps for local invoices, preparation of regular VAT, with-holding tax and corporate returns for review and approval by the Finance Manager, submission of approved returns, helping with communications between the company and the local tax office. The individual will also assist with monitoring developments in local tax and reporting regulations.

Languages
Fluent in both French and English, fluent in Chinese would be an advantage.
Knowledge/Skills/Experience
• The role requires an experienced finance professional with knowledge of OHADA.
• Experience of SAP would be an advantage.
• Tax awareness would be beneficial, specifically experience of the administration of Senegalese withholding tax and value added tax.
• Experienced user of Microsoft Excel. Familiar with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
The individual should be both pro-active and a team player, prepared to work independently, but also closely with the Finance Manager. The individual will liaise with local advisers as well as teams in China and the UK, and, therefore, good verbal and written communication skills are vital. It is envisaged that the successful candidate will have the ability to analyse, investigate, problem-solve and report accurately against tight deadlines and be a highly disciplined and organised individual who understands the importance of structure, process and record-keeping. Strong organisational skills are also required to prioritise a number of potentially competing deadlines and deliverables during the year.
Further attributes that would be advantageous are:
• Oil industry experience.
• Awareness of Joint Operating Agreements and Production Sharing Contracts.

• Receive and authenticate invoice (stamping)
