Role Purpose
To provide learners with a rewarding and stimulating English language learning experience. To promote and ensure quality teaching and effective learning of English. To support the wider aims of British Council and its cultural relations mission.
Main accountabilities but not limited to the following:
This post will have the following core functions:
Teaching
• Plan, prepare and deliver high quality English language teaching that meets the needs of different customer groups taking into account individual learning needs and modes of learning
• Ensure teaching meets British Council Global Teaching Standards, as well as organisational and learner expectations.
• Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to help manage students’ performance throughout their learning, and actively promote learner autonomy and progress
Teaching Centre Activities
• Attend staff meetings and contribute to the development, evaluation, and improvement of English language courses, materials and related services in order to meet students’ needs by actively working as a member of the teaching team
• Support local marketing and promotional strategy, and assist the teaching centre team in delivering excellent customer service through dissemination of information and communications with students
• Complete teaching related administrative tasks to specified standards and uphold professional responsibilities and values. Ensure British Council’s values and behaviours are reflected in their work
Customers & Stakeholders
• Maintain good relationships with customers and colleagues
• Ensure customers are aware of British Council’s cultural relations role and help develop opportunity for students to gain some understanding of the UK and its values and to participate in inter-cultural interactions either in class or as out of class activity

Ensure guidelines and policies are applied and upheld in relation to Safeguarding, Data Protection, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Special Educational Needs and Diversity, Health and Safety

Role specific knowledge and experience
Minimum requirements
• Language requirement – (C1 minimum), a recent IELTS certificate indicating Band 8 or above or a Cambridge CAE Pass. Certificate will be required as evidence
• Undergraduate degree
• Cambridge CELTA/Trinity cert TESOL (global minimum standard)
Desirable
• Recognised diploma in EFL i.e. DELTA/Trinity Diploma
• Experience in teaching relevant age groups
