Job description
Designated as a Computer Management Assistant for the US Embassy Dakar’s Information Resource Management (IRM) section, the incumbent is part of a team responsible for daily operations and administration of all unclassified computer hardware, software, and network assets subscribing to ICASS Cost Center Code 5458 at Post.
The incumbent performs critical administrative and technical support for the Information Resource Management division. The duties also include acting as the primary liaison between the local telephone service providers and the U.S. Mission. S/he will inspect and review all telephone bills and advise the Financial Management Officer (FMO) of irregularities if any. This position will administer the cellular telephone and smartphone program which includes providing technical support for customers, and interfaces with all 21 agencies and over 560 Mission employees.
This position will have Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) responsibilities for the cellphone contracts. Incumbent serves as an incidental operator of official vehicles and meets all requirements outlined in 14 FAM 433.
Job requirements
• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, network management or information technology is required.
• At least two years of progressively responsible experience in the computer field which could include computer management, applications programming, support technician, Active Directory management and computer networking, supporting mobile devices at the user level including billing experience.
• Position requires good knowledge of the host country and is expected to apply this knowledge due to having contact with contractors/vendors regarding IT services. Must possess knowledge of the techniques and methodologies involving computer operations, management, and related aspects of telecommunications; computer networking; hardware and software technology.
• Level 4 English and French (Fluency, speaking/writing including the ability to translate) are required.
• Must be able to move and lift moderately heavy computer equipment. This is a customer service-oriented position, so tact and diplomacy skills are important for good user community relations.
• The ability to maintain schedules, organize workloads, and exercise good records management skills for diagnosis and resolution of hardware and software issues.
• Must have a valid, current driver’s license for a car. Must have had a valid driver’s license for a minimum of five (5) years.
