Without access to financial institutions, people are forced to keep their savings under the mattress. Small business owners rely on lenders who charge extortionate rates. Parents spend hours waiting in line to pay school fees in cash.
We’re solving this by building financial services that just work: no account fees, instantly available, and accepted everywhere. In places where electricity, water and roads don’t always work, you can still send money with Wave. In 2017, we launched a mobile app in Senegal for cash deposit, withdrawal, and peer-to-peer and business payments. Now, we have millions of users across 9 countries and are growing fast.

How you’ll help us achieve it
We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Internal Auditor to ensure our operations meet the highest standards of compliance, efficiency, and risk management. In this role, you’ll lead audit missions, provide valuable insights to strengthen internal controls, and help foster a culture of accountability as we scale rapidly. With a focus on continuous improvement, you’ll report directly to the Audit Committee and play a key role in driving operational excellence across the organization.
In this role, you’ll;
Audit Planning and Strategy:
• Develop and execute a comprehensive internal audit plan based on the company’s objectives and risks.
Audit Execution:
• Conduct internal audits to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and compliance with policies and procedures.
• Review financial, operational, and compliance processes to identify control weaknesses or areas for improvement.
Investigations:
• Conduct thorough investigations into suspected fraud, misconduct, or irregularities within the organization.
• Prepare investigative reports, recommend corrective actions, and collaborate with law enforcement and legal authorities as necessary.
Reporting and Recommendations:
• Prepare detailed audit reports that highlight findings, recommendations, and action plans for management.
Compliance and Regulation:
• Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards in the WAEMU region and ensure the company’s compliance.
• Provide guidance and support for regulatory audits and examinations.
Continuous Improvement:
• Recommend process improvements and control enhancements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
• Promote a culture of internal control awareness and accountability within the organization.
Key details
• Location: You’ll work from our office in Senegal and may travel to field locations.
• Work authorization in Senegal.
• This is a permanent position.

Requirements
• Minimum 5 years of experience in risk management, internal audit, or related fields in a bank/financial institution.
• A secondary degree in Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Business & Economics, or a comparable field.
• Have excellent analytical skills and a taste for in-depth technical investigation.
• Fluent in French and English.
• Proven experience with an international company or have worked internationally.
