Senior Mining Engineer (French-speaking) – Senegal
CLIENT

Linum Consult's client is an international mining company well-established in Africa.
They are looking for a French-speaking Senior Mining Engineer to join their team in Senegal on a rotational basis of 8 weeks on, 4 weeks off.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Planning, scheduling, and tracking of all mining activities, using software such as Vulcan, MineSched, and spreadsheets
• Preparing and distributing budgets, forecasts, and plans
• Collecting relevant data; interpreting and analysing, and managing data quality
• Making significant inputs into operational decisions
• Liaising between departments and carrying out periodical reports
• Working with production personnel, the Drill & Blast team, explosives contractor, and geologists to ensure safe & efficient blasting, including improvement of geotechnical conditions
• Preparing data for budget generation
• Providing assistance to other members of the Mining Department when requested
• Mentoring and assisting junior personnel to increase their skills and mining knowledge

PROFILE
• Degree qualification in Mining Engineering or other Engineering subject
• At least 10 years’ experience in mining, with a strong working knowledge of open pit mining activities, and at least 4 years in an expatriate role
• Excellent technical IT skills, especially MS Office and CAD software, ideally with experience of using Vulcan and MineSched for mine design and planning
• Excellent people management and communication skills
• The ability to train junior staff to complete any gaps in their knowledge
• Fluent in French and English, with excellent cultural sensitivity and knowledge of Senegalese culture
• Current driver’s license
