Senegal: Internship Opportunity with Carbon Policies
The Global Green Growth Institute internship program (also called "Grow Green" Program) provides a unique learning opportunity for students and recent graduates from diverse academic backgrounds. The program is designed for talented and motivated individuals skilled in areas relevant to GGGI’s operations. The program allows selected candidates to gain insight into the work of the Institute and provides assistance and training in various professional fields in a multicultural environment. We encourage qualified young professionals with diverse academic and cultural backgrounds to apply.

CURRENT OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a talented and motivated individual to work with us in the GGGI Senegal Office to support the development and custody of technical information and knowledge sharing materials for the Program “Designing Policy Approaches under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.”
The assignment will include the following but not limited to assisting the DAPA Program Manager in:
o Developing capacity building materials related to Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
o Developing promotional materials for DAPA activities in Senegal.
o Organizing, version controlling & archiving documents in a systematic manner.
o Coordinating meeting schedules with internal and external stakeholders.
o Attending relevant meetings, drafting minutes, and ensuring timely clearance and distribution.
o Researching relevant information, including news and releases of technical inputs from the UNFCCC and other relevant institutions related to the Program and preparing brief notes and summary documents of technical information.
o Proposing innovative knowledge products.
o The intern will belong to a diverse and professional environment and will benefit from mentorship, development of challenging professional tasks and daily basis interaction with other colleagues.

ELIGIBILITY
Applicants to the GGGI internship program must meet one of the following requirements:
o Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s (final year), Master’s or PhD program prior to internship assignment, or a recent graduate within the last 12 months.
o Be engaged or recently engaged in academic study in a field directly related to the Institute’s work.
o Enthusiasm towards finding creative and long-lasting solutions to reduce climate change challenges.
o Possess an excellent command of English.

QUALIFICATIONS
o Background in sustainability, environmental engineering, environmental economics, policy, or environmental law.
o Understanding of the global climate crisis, global climate agreements (e.g., Paris Agreement) and the role of economic instruments to reduce it.
o Academic, work, or personal experience of translating difficult technical concepts into understandable knowledge materials.
o Ability to quickly understand complex issues, ready to anticipate and provide necessary support to the team leader and those who need support.
o Creativity and initiative applied to knowledge sharing.
o Strong command of written English and French (native level).
o Able to work effectively with other teams of a high degree of cultural/professional diversity.

SELECTION PROCESS
o GGGI evaluates applications based on eligibility requirements, relevance of academic study and work experience (if any); and the level of interest and motivation to contribute to development work.
o Due to the high volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
o Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
o Duration: The internship program is for at least three months and up to six months. Once selected, interns must begin the internship either prior to or within 12 months of graduation.
o Stipend: GGGI interns receive a monthly stipend of USD$500 per month. All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by either the interns or their sponsoring institutions.
o Visa: GGGI will provide a supporting letter for visa. Interns will be responsible for obtaining and financing the necessary visas.
o Travel: Intern will arrange and finance their travel to the internship location.
o Medical Insurance: Interns must present proof of valid medical insurance to GGGI upon returning the signed internship contract.
o Confidentiality: Interns must keep confidential all unpublished information obtained during the internship and may not publish any documents based on such information.
o Academic Credit: Interns may get academic credit from their institution of higher education for the internship. Interns need to check with their university to confirm their academic credit policy for internships.
o Working Hours: interns are expected to work during normal working hours. Leave should be pre-approved by the Intern Manager, and the latter should inform the Office of HR accordingly.
o Learning Outcomes: before completion of the internship, Intern Managers are expected to review the learning outcomes with the intern.
o Certificate: provided upon successful completion of the internship, upon request.
