Dakar

We are looking for a commercially focused and driven candidate to take up the new and exciting role of Area Product Manager for Maersk Senegal.

The Area Product Manager leads the Northern West Africa Area (9 countries) Local Services team in charge of developing products, setting rates and providing product expertise to the Sales teams. Local Services cover e.g. intermodal, WnD, CHB, LCL, depots, intercontinental rail, and cargo insurance, and bring these to desired stage.

The Area Product Manager is a member of the Area Leadership Team and is responsible and accountable for:

• Co-developing with sales leadership the NWA Logistics & Services (L&S) Growth short and long term account planning and business development) and pricing strategy
• Co-owning with Area CFO the overall P&L balance sheet (GP/EBIT) across logistics & services for NWA
• Identifying & driving investment and M&A opportunities
• Driving the operations for owned and leased assets in Warehousing & Distribution and Depots and ensuring that necessary controls are in place for the execution of that business (financially, operationally and in terms of HSSE)
• Providing product knowledge and subject matter expertise into the commercial process.

Key responsibilities

Profit & Loss
• New and existing customer management
• Contract management
• WnD & Depots Site performance (cost/utilization)
L&S Area P&L
• Continious improvement & optimization of assets
• Investment decisions and follow up on the same

Product
• Manages day to day WnD and depot service delivery in line with established KPI’s
• Expand WnD and depot footprint in a proftable manner
• Business development plan aligned with strategy and markets
• Works closely with sales to develop value proposition for new opportunities
• Develop and deliver product training to sales
• Actively involved in selling and securing new business and customer retention in close co-ordination with NWA sales teams
• Tender management jointly with sales

Operational excellence
• HSSE adherence
• Drive compliance & regulatory adherence
• Site operation basis security / IT standards
• Work with operations to ensure customer needs are delivered on

General Management
• Lease administration
• Contract management
• Drive adherence to governance framework / Area RICC compliance
• Ensure L&S products can meet future growth requirements and achieve sustainable business results.

Leadership
• Develop talent pipeline
• Engagement of the product team across locations in NWA


We are looking for

• Strong L&S knwoledge and experience including operational and safety (W&D, Depots, CFS)
• Business development track record
• NWA market knowledge: understanding of market/customer needs and development of products/solutions to cater for those needs
• Financial accumen – ability to read, interpret and drive P&L
• Stakeholder management & collaboration in a matrix organization
• Change & project management
• Strategic mindset
• Strong analytical and data driven mindset
• Motivational leadership & ability to communicate clearly and set focus/direction
• Solid planning skills
