The purpose of this role is to monitor the STP/BIOX® Plant operations through electronic representation shown on monitors (SCADA) as well as make changes to variable in consultation with other field personnel and sections to ensure smooth running of processes according to established procedures and KPIs. The Senior Control Room Operator/Metallurgist is responsible for the safe and productive monitoring and controlling of the SMGO STP/BIOX® Plant (including the crusher) via the Wonderware SCADA control system. Primarily this involves:
1.1.1 Key Accountabilities:
• Monitor plant operations to ensure safe and smooth running of the entire processing plant circuit.
• Monitor plant operations to ensure process streams deliver on set points / targets
• Report anomalies/deviations to the Sectional Lead and Operations Lead
• Promote SMGO Health, Safety and Environmental actions for optimum performance.
• Take appropriate action in case of irregularities or emergencies in consultation with relevant stakeholders including
CCTV, plant operators, supervisors, managers etc.
• Maintain records of plant operations and development performance including performance of machinery.
• Manage emergency procedures. The senior control room operator/metallurgist is to react quickly in case of emergency and set emergency procedures in motion.
• Monitor all fire alarms within the process plant
• Ensure that the control room remain secure at all times and that no unauthorized person enter the control room
• Ensure the surveillance monitors are observed at all times
• Remote start up and shutdown of plant equipment.
• Control of equipment speeds/positions via automatic or manual output control.
• Monitoring process trends and adjusting circuit parameters to maximise performance
• Avoiding or minimising the impact of developing problems through proactive responses to trend data.
• Monitoring, reacting to alarms and communicating same to Snr Shift Supervisor/Supervisor, Maintenance (Mechanical and E&I) Supervisors and field operators if required
• Communicating with field operators, shift supervisor, process management and process maintenance department; and acting on information received.
• Maintaining housekeeping standards in the control room.
• Perform other duties as assigned
