MINE GEOLOGIST – DATA BASE
Roles
The Mine Geologist Database will provide support and assist the Senior Mine Geologist Database in maintaining the best integrity of the geological database.
The incumbent will be collecting field data and import the data into the database. In addition, the Mine Geologist Database will coordinate the ROM pad.
Major tasks and responsibilities of position
Technical Accountabilities
As directed by the Chief Geologist, collect, collate data and ensure the integrity of the database at all times.
Recommend initiatives to ensure improvements in data capture and security.
Supervise ROM pad practices for optimum mine feed blend is achieved.
Implement procedures that ensure timely and accurate collation of all data.
Cost Management & Reporting
As directed, gather inputs specific to your area during the budget preparation process.
Accountable for approval of purchases and expenditure within delegated limits of authority.
Compliance / Quality Control
Promote and adhere to appropriate internal methodologies, policies, procedures and standards.
Consistently maintain a high quality of work across all allocated functions.
Provide input/informed commentary, improvement opportunities and areas of risk to management.
Ensure the quality of work output is achieved against company standards and monitored daily to ensure delivery meets expectations.
Actively contribute an improvement culture by actively encouraging employees to participate in continuous improvement.
Staff Development:
Provide management, guidance, coaching and technical assistance and support to the team.
Promote and develop the skills of subordinates through the transfer of technology and skill development through on-the-job training programs.
Encourage and facilitate effective and supportive communication between all team members and related departments.
Safety Management:
Demonstrate personal commitment regarding safety and environmental and Social Responsibility practices.
Ensure that agreed procedures, safeguards and controls are applied and used.
Ensure all activities are conducted safely and in accordance with Company standards and procedures
Ensure hazard management plans are observed.
Keep statutory and internal reporting as required.
Active participation to the Health & Safety Committee.

Position Requirements
Education:
BSC (Honours) degree in Geosciences or similar tertiary qualification.
Relevant experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar Geology based roles within mining operations.
- A proven record of accomplishment in mining operations as well as exploration experience.
- Experience in a developing country with a preference for West African experience.
- A demonstrated ability to supervise drilling contractors.
- A demonstrated ability to supervise geological personnel.
- A proven record of accomplishment in OP operations as well as exploration experience.
- Knowledge of geological software like SURPAC and Data shed is highly desirable.
- French and English language skills are desirable.
- Demonstrates strong conceptual skills and be capable of developing lateral and practical solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to respond to a changing work environment.
- Working under pressure and ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at the same time.
