Duties
Under the supervision of the Senior/Deputy/Facility Manager, the Electrical Engineer Supervisor leads a team of skilled tradespersons and is responsible for maintaining all of the New Embassy Compound (NEC)/New Consulate Compound (NCC) Electrical Power Distribution Systems, both interior and exterior. Included among these components are the Generators; Voltage Regulators; Transformers; Medium and Low-Voltage Switchgear; Automatic Transfer Switches; Motor Control Centers; Distribution Panel-Boards and Sub-Panels; Feeder Wire and Cabling; Branch Circuit Wiring; Lighting and Power Outlets, and Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) Systems.

Non Supervisory Experience:
Full level/Grade 11
Must have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience working as a project engineer/engineer at a manufacturing plant, major resort, hospital, office complex, or a large university/school system managing a preventative maintenance program that incorporates and utilizes a CMMS to track scheduled and unscheduled maintenance requests and their related expenses. The incumbents work experience must demonstrate a progression of increased responsibility throughout their career, including developing scopes of work, construction documents (plans and specifications) and cost estimates for new construction projects, building repairs, equipment overhauls, and equipment replacement schedules.

Entry level/Grade 10

Education Requirements
Education: The completion of a 4-year Bachelor of Science degree, or equivalent, in Electrical Engineering or similar engineering degree that is close in degree course requirements from an accredited university program is required. To be acceptable, the curriculum must be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited or equivalent by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), (or a host-country engineering board equivalent), as a professional engineering curriculum.
Knowledge: Must know electrical theory, ohms law, how to size electrical equipment including generators, transformers, motor starters, feeder and branch circuit wiring, circuit breakers and other electrical equipment, and how to use the various test instruments to analyze and repair electrical problems. Must know how to diagnose the root cause of an electrical problem and what materials and equipment will be needed to facilitate repairs. Must know how to work safely on electrical components including the use of lock-out/tag-out safety measure. Must have knowledge of local electrical contractors and supply stores that can provide materials and/or service support for electrical systems within his/her area of responsibility. Must have detailed technical knowledge of all electrical systems within his/her area of responsibility. Must have knowledge in design and construction practices with U.S. electrical codes and specifications; thorough professional knowledge in electrical engineering design calculations and criteria; preparation of engineering drawings and specifications. Must be able to prepare SOW and draft and design computer-aided designs in AutoCAD
Evaluations
Skills and abilities: Must be able to read and interpret electrical drawings, riser diagrams, wiring schematics, various equipment schedules, and other construction documents. Must have good computer skills, able to use and navigate through the Microsoft Office Software suite package using MS Word, Office, Excel, database entry, AutoCAD, and MS project. Must be proficient with electrical engineering drafting, engineering management software, preparation, and maintenance of daily construction inspection logs, capable of reviewing coordination design drawings for code compliance, and have the ability to create electric engineering cost estimates and provide briefings to the Senior/Deputy/Facility Manager, the Management Counselor, and other stakeholders on electrical engineering issues. Must be skilled at drafting detailed and concise written reports in English for the Senior/Deputy/Facility Manager. Ability to lift and carry tools, equipment, or parts, maximum weight 25 kilos. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to handle a large workload and multiple tasks simultaneously. Must be highly organized. A keen aptitude to work independently, with impeccable integrity, strong initiative, good judgment and to maintain confidentiality.

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Dakar, Senegal may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
