Main Responsibilities
Statutory Accounting and Auditing
o Lead the preparation and submission of statutory accounts from start to finish in Senegalese formats. Along with the external auditors.
o Own the external audit cycle: planning, deliverables, walkthroughs, management letters, and follow-up.
o Ensure compliance with Senegal's tax, legal, and regulatory frameworks.
Project and Donor Accounting
o Collaborate with program staff to monitor project budgets, expenditures, and forecasts.
o Prepare donor financial reports with supporting documentation, ensuring compliance with donor regulations (e.g., FCDO, ECHO, USAID, UN).
o Monitor restricted/unrestricted revenues, apply equitable cost allocations, and protect eligible expenses.
Financial Reporting and Analysis
o Provide accurate management accounts, trial balances, and variance analyses. o Provide actionable insights, trend analysis, and scenario planning to senior management.
o Advise on risks and opportunities, ensuring programs are financially viable and sustainable.
Treasury, Cash Flow, and Payroll
o Manage bank accounts, cash flow forecasts, liquidity, and currency exposure.
o Oversee payroll processes and ensure timely tax and social security payments.
o Protect petty cash and ensure compliance with internal control policies.
Budgeting, Forecasting, and Business
o Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring strategic alignment.
o Partner with budget holders to improve financial literacy, ownership, and accountability.
o Constructively challenge assumptions, ensuring resources are used efficiently.
o Support the development of grant proposals with accurate financial data.
Controls, Risks, and Governance
o Strengthen internal control systems, segregation of duties, and fraud prevention measures.
o Maintain a financial risk register and ensure prompt mitigation of issues.
o Ensure organizational policies are implemented and adapted to local requirements.
