I. ABOUT WFP
Assisting almost 100 million people in around 83 countries each year, the World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience.
Our mission is to help the world achieve Zero Hunger in our lifetimes. Every day, WFP works worldwide to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry and that the poorest and most vulnerable, particularly women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.

II. BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The core function of the OIM and Performance Reporting (PR) unit is to ensure operational information received from Country offices (COs) and other stakeholders is clear, concise and fit for purpose, and adequate reporting of Country Strategic Plan (CSP) outcomes to advocate and demonstrate WFP’s role and contribution to SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
The OIM and PR team guides and oversees COs’ contribution to achieving a ‘Common Operating Picture’ of WFP’s operations in the West and Central Africa region.
This is achieved by providing context specific inputs, analysing political and humanitarian situations contributing to efficient and inclusive responses, and establishing cross-functional information workstreams.
Through corporate and ad hoc reporting tools, OIM and PR informs WFP partners and donors, showcasing operational achievements and challenges.
The Regional Bureau of Dakar (RBD) for West and Central Africa requires the services of an intern to support OIM and PR in carrying out information management and reporting work related to WFP’s operations. Under the supervision of the Regional OIM and PR Officer, the intern will support all OIM and PR activities, and contribute to the establishment and presentation of a standard operating picture of WFP’s programme portfolio and associated results that facilitate informed and timely decision-making at all levels throughout the organisation.

III. WHAT WILL YOU DO AT THIS POSITION?
1. Review, edit and publish operational information management (OIM) products shared by Country Offices, in line with established review and approval workflows. Products can include situation reports and country briefs for WFP and external audiences, among others. This also includes the compilation and cross-checking of figures, and the formatting and posting after clearance and quality control.
2. Support country offices and RBD to ensure that standard OIM & PR procedures and templates are followed to drive the quality, consistency and standardisation of information management and reporting across WFP.
3. Support in the development of internal/external operational information management products relative to WFP activities in the region.
4. Support the team in the planning of OIM/ Annual Country Report (ACR) trainings and/or information sessions.
5. Contribute to/support the ACR process: plan, collect information from RBD/COs during the preparation phase (lessons learned, draft emails to COs, compile information spreadsheets, etc.) and work with ACR coordinators to ensure that COs are adequately supported.
6. Maintenance and enhancement of OIM databases: update mailing lists as required, file reports and other documents, upload relevant documents to shared platforms to facilitate access for reports counterparts in country offices.
7. Assist in preparing briefs for RBD units including notes for the record and other relevant documentation as needed.
8. Provide any other support as required.
