Description de l'offre

SRHR Deployable Advisor

Date: 23-Dec-2020
Location: Flexible, Flexible
Company: Plan International

The Organisation

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.

We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it’s girls who are most affected.

Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children.

We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for – and respond to – crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.

We have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 80 years, and are now active in more than 70 countries.
Since adopting our global strategy, 100 Million Reasons, our global work to advance children’s rights and equality for girls has had unprecedented impact. We have been transforming our operations at the Global Hub to be the best possible partner for the 8,000+ staff who work in our country offices, and working to become a more agile, efficient and accountable organization.

We have improved our mechanisms for collaboration, transparency and data-gathering. The transformation has also increased the number of decisions to be taken close to the point of impact and distributed power more widely throughout the organisation.

To bring about lasting change, we have to live our values. We are committed not simply to telling the world we are the go-to organisation on girls’ rights, but to embedding justice and equality in all that we do.

Will you join us?

The Opportunity

This is an exciting new role to act as deployable technical support to offices across the federation. This support will include;
• Providing technical services to Plan International and its partners in support of programme and project design, resource mobilization and capacity development
• Contributing to the development of organisational programme standards, models and frameworks and external influencing efforts
• Contributing to global technical networks by sharing information and providing peer support

The majority of your time will be spent providing technical support to offices across the federation. Support missions are largely short-term in nature and wherever possible will be carried out virtually. Nurturing fruitful relationships with internal and external stakeholders and clients, understanding and responding to their needs, developing their capacity through applying effective approaches and proactively asking for feedback to improve services and ways of working will be critical.
When not deployed (virtually or in person) to support missions you will support programme development and influence work at the global level of the organisation as part of the global technical network leadership team.

The Individual

You will have proven experience devising strategies and approaches to address adolescent pregnancies in different contexts, including taking a multisectoral approach with a deep understanding related to adolescent capacity and consent, and ability to apply a rights-based approach for programme and influence activities.

Prior expertise applying evidence-based approaches to transform negative gender and social norms related to sexuality and harmful practices and knowledge of a range of evidence-based strategies, approaches and tools to provide children, young people and their families with comprehensive sexuality education, in both formal- and non-formal settings will be crucial.

With proven strategies to strengthen quality, gender-responsive healthcare for adolescents and young people, with particular emphasis on prevention of unintended pregnancy, you will have the ability to analyse laws, policies and budgets relevant for young people’s SRHR and to integrate influencing strategies into programmes.

Utilising evidence-based approaches and tools to identify and support particularly vulnerable adolescents and youth, and to strengthen their access and utilisation of SRHR information, education and services is key.

Equality, diversity and inclusion is at the very heart of everything that Plan International stands for.

We want Plan International to reflect the diversity of the communities we work with, offering equal opportunities to everyone regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.

Plan International is based on a culture of inclusivity and we strive to create a workplace environment that ensures every team, in every office, in every country, is rich in diverse people, thoughts, and ideas.

We foster an organisational culture that embraces our commitment to racial justice, gender equality, girls’ rights and inclusion.

Plan International believes that in a world where children face so many threats of harm, it is our duty to ensure that we, as an organisation, do everything we can to keep children safe. This means that we have particular responsibilities to children that we come into contact with and we must not contribute in any way to harming or placing children at risk.

A range of pre-employment checks will be undertaken in conformity with Plan International's Safeguarding Children and Young People policy. Plan International also participates in the Inter Agency Misconduct Disclosure Scheme. In line with this scheme we will request information from applicants previous employers about any findings of sexual exploitation, sexual abuse and/or sexual harassment during employment, or incidents under investigation when the applicant left employment. By submitting an application, the job applicant confirms their understanding of these recruitment procedures.
