Description de l'offre

Resilience Specialist

Date: 20-Nov-2020
Location: Global Flexibility OR, UK
Company: Plan International

The Organisation

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.

We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it’s girls who are most affected.

Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children.

We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for – and respond to – crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.

We have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 80 years, and are now active in more than 70 countries.

The Opportunity

Today’s risk landscape is more complex than ever, with many factors interplaying to create humanitarian crises which are lasting longer. Climate change is a significant driver of these crises, due to the increased frequency and intensity of extreme weather events often leading to economic hardship, forced displacement or localised conflict.
Strengthened resilience can safeguard development gains and protect girls' rights from the effects of shocks and stresses.

As the Resilience Specialist, you will support the organisation in having strong, ambitious and strategic programming and guidance on resilience.
You will provide high level guidance, capacity building and technical support in the development of quality programmes.
You will work with teams and departments across the organisation to ensure that all Plan International’s work contributes to strengthening resilience, including supporting the nexus between development and humanitarian programming.
In this role you will be responsible for the representation of Plan International in relevant external events and networks related to resilience and you will ensure that all work is developed and implemented in ways that improve gender equality and empower girls and women.
You will be required to travel for up to 40% of your time to provide technical support to Country Offices.

The Individual

We are looking to recruit an individual with a master’s degree, or equivalent experience, in supporting the development of programme guidance in international development.
You will have knowledge of and a commitment to international humanitarian principles, codes and guidelines. You will also have up-to-date knowledge of how resilience and climate change are informing international development and humanitarian programming approaches, including within the nexus/triple nexus discussions.

To be successful in this role you will have the ability to manage competing demands and deadlines by prioritising a diverse workload. You will be able to network effectively and build good working relationships with colleagues across the organisation.
You will be an innovator with a desire to identify and explore new methods of working and you will also have strong communication skills, with excellent written and spoken English.

Location: Global Hub (Woking, UK where we are all currently working from home due to Government restrictions) or in most locations where Plan International has a legal entity and you have the pre-existing right to live and work.
Our preference is for roles to be based as close to the point of impact as possible

Type of Role: Permanent
Reports to: Head of DRM Technical Team
Salary: We will be happy to disclose the salary and applicable benefits to applicants as part of this process, however, please kindly note that this will vary according to the location of the appointed candidate and therefore, it is not possible to include full details here.
The salary for an appointed candidate based in the UK will be in the range of £40,000 - £45,000
Closing Date: Friday 11 December 2020

Early application is encouraged as we will review applications throughout the advertising period and reserve the right to close the advert early.

Equality, diversity and inclusion is at the very heart of everything that Plan International stands for.

We want Plan International to reflect the diversity of the communities we work with, offering equal opportunities to everyone regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.

Plan International is based on a culture of inclusivity and we strive to create a workplace environment that ensures every team, in every office, in every country, is rich in diverse people, thoughts, and ideas.

We foster an organisational culture that embraces our commitment to racial justice, gender equality, girls’ rights and inclusion.

Plan International believes that in a world where children face so many threats of harm, it is our duty to ensure that we, as an organisation, do everything we can to keep children safe.
This means that we have particular responsibilities to children that we come into contact with and we must not contribute in any way to harming or placing children at risk.

A range of pre-employment checks will be undertaken in conformity with Plan International's Safeguarding Children and Young People policy. Plan International also participates in the Inter Agency Misconduct Disclosure Scheme.
In line with this scheme we will request information from applicants previous employers about any findings of sexual exploitation, sexual abuse and/or sexual harassment during employment, or incidents under investigation when the applicant left employment.
By submitting an application, the job applicant confirms their understanding of these recruitment procedures.
