Language Fluency in English (essential) and French (desirable).

Overview of position
The Business Development Manager, West Africa will support CTG's growing West Africa business.
This position will support CTG overseas based business development team & regional offices in West Africa. S / he will identify new opportunities in the development & humanitarian sector.

Role objectives The responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
• Assist with the proposal development process, ensuring a high quality & timely submission.
• When not actively engaged in writing proposals, this person will support corporate business development strategy development & implementation.
In this capacity, s / he will be involved in the formulation of proposals, the Identification of Invitation to Tenders (ITT), Request For Proposals / Quotations (RFP / Q) & Expressions of Interests (EOI).
• S / He plans & help to identify, influence & qualify opportunities.
• S / He will conduct ongoing business development related research & data analyses to support the business development & regional team & other business development needs.
• Engage in the teams’ development of best practice & evidenced base approaches utilized in proposals.
• Prepositioning / external engagement & networking.
• Conduct market assessment research as required, on opportunity information, competitive landscape & CTG capabilities / capacity in the West African region.
• Participate in field visits & business development trips, reach out to regional teams & national offices & with identified (& / or identify local partners).
• Proposal preparation & coordination, assist with the technical writing support.
During capture & preparation phases, support & advise (where possible) win strategy development discussions, including development of technical solutions & workforce management plans.
• Collaborate with proposal team regarding local infrastructure requirements.
• Help ensure technical proposal corresponds to budget & other cost volume documents. Post submission, with proposal team be prepared to respond quickly & competitively to technical questions from client post submission.
• Assist in developing methods & materials to communicate to clients.
• Work collaboratively with team members when assigned to work as part of a team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Project reporting The Business Development Manager, West Africa will directly report to the Regional Director / COO / Director of Operations.

Key competencies Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, International Relations, Social Science.

Work experience:
- 5+ years’ experience of which at least 3 years in a sales / business development capacity.

Geographical experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Middle East & / or Africa.

Languages:
- Fluency in English (essential).
- French (preferred).
- Arabic (optional).

Required competencies:
- Highly motivated with strong leadership, organisational & influencing skills.
- Ability to maintain strong working relationships with all levels of personnel to ensure accurate information provided in all proposals or other business development activities.
- As we have offices around the world (HQ in UAE & sales office in UK) strong communication skills are essential.
- Knowledge of the humanitarian sphere in conflict affected regions.
- Knowledge of the development sector in conflict affected regions.
- Accountability.
- Leadership.
- Innovation & solution thinking.

Job specific technical / functional / professional competencies:
- French speaker (native preferred).
- Keen interest & excitement in business development, entrepreneurial interests, willingness to learn, ambition to take on positions of increasing responsibility.
- Detail oriented, flexible & able to handle multiple concurrent tasks.
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Commercially astute with sufficient understanding of commercial practices capable of leading in production of technical & commercial bids & contract analysis.
- Strong oral & written French & English communication skills.
- Capable of negotiating effectively with people at all levels & comfortable with dealing with varied personality types.
- Skilled at MS Office applications.
Team management This role will require candidates with strong team management experience.
