What are we looking for?
Are you a voice and champion of the people? Do you consider yourself a groundbreaker, change-maker and smart risk taker? Are you committed to working for change? We are looking for an Executive Director (ED) to lead our newly formed Engagement and Mobilization Team to take our supporter and stakeholder interactions to the next level. We want to increase engagement with our supporters both online and offline and with the agility to adapt to an ever-changing global environment.

The right person for this role is agile, comfortable in a fast-paced environment and willing to take smart, strategic risks to reinforce ONE’s innovative mission. The ED will have one foot in and one foot out of the organization, fulfilling a dual role of cultivating internal and external partnerships. Internally they will be an enterprise-wide leader and collaborate across the organization, while externally they will seek and develop partnerships that amplify ONE’s voice and mobilize our supporter base.

The ED will know campaigning, movement building and organizing inside and out with a particular focus on people-powered campaigns. They will relish working with innovative technology and approaches on campaigns while understanding the global context and variety of best practices in different markets.

The ED reports to the President & CEO and serves as a key member of the senior leadership team. This role can be based in any one of our 9 global locations.

What are the key responsibilities?
Under the ED’s guidance, the Engagement and Mobilization Team leads ONE’s work on global campaigning, digital strategy and services and the coordination and growth of multi-channel engagement of ONE’s diverse and global supporter base. The ED is responsible for collaboration and coordination with the Communications and Content Team to ensure ONE unified brand. The key responsibilities of the Executive Director are broken up into five main subject areas that each require equal attention, collaboration and coordination. The ED will manage these areas by leading and mentoring the Senior Director Global Digital and Director Global Campaigns.

Executive Management and Internal Collaboration
• Strategic leader and manager for the Engagement and Mobilization Team to include financial and budget management.
• Member of the Senior Leadership (SLT) Team ensuring ONE’s vision, mission and strategic goals are consistently applied and achieved across the organization.
• Partners with the Executive Director Communications and Content to ensure the use of consistent messaging and themes that re-enforce ONE’s values, reflect its initiatives and campaigns, and successfully engages new and current supporters.
• Fosters the direct collaboration and partnership between the Engagement & Mobilization and Communications & Content Teams.
• Builds strong and partnership driven relationships across internal teams, ensuring smooth communications and collaboration.

External Relationships and Partnerships
• Cultivates current external partnerships and develops new ones to better engage and mobilize our supporters, reach a wider and more diverse audience and bring our campaigns to the forefront of advocacy.
• As a member of the SLT, represents the organization externally on a consistent basis.

Global Campaigns
• Collaborate with Director Global Campaigns to ensure successful digital campaigns to carry-out ONE’s mission and vision as well as cutting edge tactics and strategies for online and offline campaigning.
• Inspire the team and organization with new campaign techniques and approaches that build deep, impactful campaigns.
• Ensure ONE’s creative brand, content and digital strategies are consistent and support successful campaigns and continued measurable impact.
• Facilitate the creation of a new Digital and Campaigns Lab

Digital strategy, innovation, services and production
• Collaborate with Senior Director Global Digital to ensure ONE remains at the forefront of the digital engagement landscape, is implementing cutting edge strategies and technologies, providing superb digital services and delivering reliable data and analytics.
• Ensure the collection and reporting of meaningful measurements and data analytics that provide up to the moment illustrations of ONE’s impact and engagement.
• Ensure constant evaluation of content creation and publication and channel optimization for successful delivery, engagement and personalization.

Global activist coordination and support
• Working with the ONE’s country teams and SLT, establish consistent best practices across the organization for engaging with global activists
• Establish consistent and innovative measures that can be utilized in all markets to foster collaborative learning and create a center of excellence when engaging with global activists
• Partner with the SLT to support and coordinate work across the organization, eliminating duplication of efforts

What do we need from you?
We need an expert in engagement and mobilization who is skilled in both online and offline campaigning in a global setting. The ED will have a strong technical background and know the digital space to better lead and empower our current team of digital and campaign experts. The ED must be a collaborator with an entrepreneurial spirit who utilizes excellent communication and diplomacy skills to work and lead across a global organization while creating impactful and enduring relationships both internally and externally. Specific qualifications include:
• 15+ years’ experience in creating and managing impressive and successful online and offline campaigns that engage and mobilize supporters
• 5+ years’ experience in a senior management capacity, leading teams and individuals to success and innovative cross-departmental collaboration
• High emotional intelligence and ability to engage a diverse audience of colleagues, board members, external stakeholders, supporters, partners and more
• Change maker, culture creator and internal campaigner
• Excellent communicator (both verbally and in writing) with demonstrated ability to communicate difficult and highly technical ideas to a broad audience as well as creative storytelling
• Highly innovative individual with insight and tracking of the best and newest technology and practices
• Agile individual who can adapt to an ever-changing and fast-paced global environment; demonstrated success in pivoting work plans and campaigns to react to current environment
• Excellent relationship builder both internally and with external partners
• Strong strategist and people leader that knows how to cultivate and empower a team to success
• Expert skills in budget and resource management
