Communications Intern for GGGI Senegal Country Program

Based in Seoul, The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is an intergovernmental organization founded to support and promote a model of economic growth known as "green growth", which targets key aspects of economic performance such a poverty reduction, job creation, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability. The organization partners with countries, multilateral institutions, government bodies, and private sector to help build economies that grow strongly and are more efficient and sustainable in the use of natural resources, less carbon intensive, and more resilient to climate change.
The Global Green Growth Institute internship program (also called “Grow Green” Program) provides a unique learning opportunity for students and recent graduates from diverse academic backgrounds. The program is designed for talented and motivated individuals skilled in areas relevant to GGGI’s operations. The program allows selected candidates to gain insight into the work of the Institute and provides assistance and training in various professional fields in a multicultural environment. We encourage qualified women and men, in particular, nationals of developing countries, with diverse professional, academic, and cultural backgrounds to apply.

ASSIGNMENT
We are looking for a talented individual to work with us in GGGI Senegal Office. Under the direct supervision of Communications assistant, the intern will be responsible for the followings but not limited to:
o Provide communications to the Senegal Country team;
o Media management related to the project (press notes, press attendances, media spin-offs);
o Support the establishment & management of a shared contact database and partner relationship management system including media related contacts;
o Support overall communications of all Project events;
o Participate events such as fairs, at national and local levels;
o Support the development of a marketing and communication pack including information blurbs, key messages, photos, logos, existing media coverage that can be used by all partners;
o Supporting the development of a range of digital and printed promotional and informational materials, including posters, flyers, brochures and infographics (graphic design skills are an advantage);
o Drafting and posting news articles and event announcements to the GGGI web platform;
o Assisting in the management of the GGGI Senegal Insights blog, including editing submitted blog posts, sourcing images, and promoting new posts across GGGI’s outreach channels;
o Assisting in the regular maintenance of the GGGI web platform, including content upload;
o Assisting in management of GGGI social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn;
o Supporting the facilitation of GGGI webinars and online meetings;
o Supporting the development of a monthly GGGI newsletter;
o Assist in creating PowerPoint presentations based on provided content;
o Suggesting new approaches to knowledge sharing for the GGGI, including those which capitalize on the GGGI’s web platform.

DELIVERY
o Contribute to the design of communications and knowledge management materials for the Project;
o Support implementation of behavior change campaigns;
o Support development of content under the supervision of the communications specialist, (social media cards, posts, multimedia materials).

ELIGIBILITY
Applicants to the GGGI internship program must at the time of application have one of the following requirements:
o Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s (final year), Master’s or PhD program prior to internship assignment, or a recent graduate within the last 12 months;
o Be engaged or recently engaged in academic study in a field directly related to the Institute’s work;
o Possess an excellent command of French and English;
o Must possess proper work permit in Senegal.

QUALIFICATION
o Exceptional writing and editing skills;
o Experience using creative suite (Photoshop InDesign, Illustrator, After effects & adobe premiere ) & editing videos is an asset;
o Experience using social media to promote an organization or event and communicating professionally on social media (including Facebook, twitter, etc.);
o Experience in promoting workshops, events and fairs;
o Experience working in a high-paced environment;
o Strong organizational skills that demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail;
o High level of proficiency in MS Office applications;
o Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills;
o Self-motivated, strong team worker and creative problem-solving abilities;
o Excellent multi-cultural literacy and interest in being a part of an international team working in an evolving and entrepreneurial environment;
o Excellent communication (both written and oral) and facilitation skills.

SELECTION PROCESS
o Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered;
o GGGI evaluates applications based on: eligibility requirements, relevance of academic study and work experience (if any); and the level of interest and motivation to contribute to development work;
o Due to high volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
o Duration: The internship program is for at least three months and up to six months. Once selected, interns must begin your internship either prior to or within 12 months of graduation.
o Stipend: GGGI interns receive a monthly stipend of USD$500 per month. All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by either the interns or their sponsoring institutions.
o Visa: GGGI will provide a supporting letter for visa. Interns will be responsible for obtaining and financing the necessary visas.
o Travel: Intern will arrange and finance their travel to the internship location.
o Medical Insurance: Interns must present proof of valid medical insurance to GGGI upon returning the signed internship contract.
o Confidentiality: Interns must keep confidential any and all unpublished information obtained during the course of the internship and may not publish any documents based on such information.
o Academic Credit: Interns may get academic credit from their institution of higher education for the internship. Interns need to check with their university to confirm their academic credit policy for internships.
o Working Hours: interns are expected to work during normal working hours. Leave should be pre-approved by the Intern Supervisor, and the latter should inform the Office of HR accordingly.
o Learning Outcomes: before completion of the internship, Intern Supervisor is expected to review the learning outcomes with the intern.
o Certificate: provided upon successful completion of the internship, upon request
