Position Summary
Under the direction of the President, BAL this position will be responsible for leading the management of all basketball referee and game-related operations for the league including scouting, league schedule, venue quality, compliance, operations manual development, rules development and administration, management of referee operations partnership and league events. This position will also have oversight of game-related activities, player discipline, and rules interpretations to ensure compliance with all agreements, rules, and contracts.

Major Responsibilities

Lead, inspire and manage a team charged with the day-to-day operations of the basketball aspects of the league
Challenge the status quo. Create a culture of innovation, transparency, and adaptability to support growing the game, improving BAL’s business, reputation, and product on the court
Provide leadership to her/his direct organization as well as other key stakeholders, including NBA enterprise resources and referees. Facilitate collaboration and buy-in from stakeholders
Value and invest in identifying, recruiting, developing, recognizing, rewarding, and retaining human capital needed to support the league’s infrastructure (Basketball Operations, Referee Operations, Competition, Player Develop, Scouting, Game Quality, etc.)

Shape positive perception of the league and maximize the league’s credibility across all constituencies: fans, media, and partners
Develop, build, implement and monitor systems for people, product, and process initiatives to grow the league and teams. Develop and sustain an analytically based operating model and create a broader vision for the league’s future
Lead the preparation, presentation and execution of all basketball operations meetings with FIBA and other stakeholders
Participate in partner sales and activation activities, if needed (i.e. Jr NBA)

Required Skills/Knowledge
· Strategic, with the ability to operationalize with a bias for action
· Outstanding communicator who effectively collaborates with a variety of stakeholders, nimbly managing to influence positive change
· Proven positive role model with strong work ethic, integrity and humility
· Professional experience and successful track record of managing a P&L, ideally in a brand-building experience
· Goal-oriented and comfortable with ambiguity, possesses the ability to consistently prioritize in in a dynamic environment; collaborative problem solving skills and the ability to work with cross-functional internal and external partners
· Entrepreneurial spirit coupled with the ability to partner with internal and external stakeholders and perpetuate an organizational culture that respects and leverages diversity and inclusion
· A passionate interest in basketball, a must
· Bilingual: French & English required

Experience Needed
· Minimum of 15 years of related basketball, or sports experience, ideally in the professional or collegiate ranks (NBA, EuroLeague, FIBA, NCAA, etc.)
· Experienced leader with global exposure and a successful track record of managing sports operations
· Experience working in a highly matrixed global organization
· Experienced leader with global exposure and performance improvement success
· Educational Background Required
