Position Description
Clear Outcomes is seeking a senior natural language processing (NLP) consultant to lead and provide technical support to a research project comparing traditional qualitative analytical methods and NLP specifically for program evaluation.
The project intends to use both supervised and unsupervised methods and may potentially include semi-supervised methods as a further area of comparison.
We anticipate that the level of effort for this research project will be between 25-40 days over a six-month period. If funded, this project is expected to begin in the spring of 2021.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Developing and finalizing an inception report that includes the methodological framework
• Providing technical support and guidance to data scientists on NLP processes and methods
• Write code or assist with coding challenges as needed to ensure it is of production quality
• Review and approve of analytical findings, conclusions, and recommendations
• Review and finalize research report

Education and Experience
• 5+ years of experience in natural language processing
• Expertise developing and testing NLP models using both unsupervised and supervised methods
• Experience developing and annotating corpora
• Experience training and evaluating taggers
• Preferred experience in program evaluation, international development, and/or qualitative research
