About the role:
The Deputy Regional Manager position will be based in Dakar, Senegal. Your role is to manage roughly half of Viamo’s Project Managers in the Design & Implementation team based in Dakar under the supervision of the Regional Manager for Francophone Africa.
You will also join the D&I management team and oversee relevant strategic initiatives for the Department.
Key Responsibilities
MANAGEMENT:
• 1:1s and coaching of Project managers (~ 3-4 direct reports)
• Office hours for problem-solving
• Training of the team
PROGRAMS TEAM:
• Regular and extraordinary meetings with CMs to check the pipeline activities and work closely with the Regional Manager to plan team’s capacity
• Preparation/review of proposals and project feasibility/design support to the Programs team before contracts are signed
ADMINISTRATION:
• Weekly team meeting
• D&I Mgmt team meetings
• D&I Global team meetings
• RD check-ins
• Tsheets
• Expenses
LEADERSHIP:
Knowledge Management & Best Practices:
• Identify and frame areas for research and best practices
• Delegating these research projects to the PMs
• Sharing insights from this research with PMs, RMs, CMs, etc.
Inter-team roles:
• Interfacing with tech to share insights, challenges and opportunities
• New product launches
• Product leadership

Key Performance Indicators
• Impact (reach and engagement), as well as revenue of projects, implemented.
• Implementation quality, as measured by quality issues, delays and delights
• Productivity and productivity improvement of Project Managers
Team and Reporting Structure
• Reports to the Regional Manager for Francophone Africa.
• Line manages the D&I Project Managers in Dakar Hub.
Profile
Required
• Experience of 2+ years in management roles and direct supervision of staff
• Experience of 5+ years in multi-stakeholder management in social enterprise, tech, INGO, mobile network operator.
Ability to manage competing priorities at numerous projects at the same time.
• Native or Fluent French speaker (DALF C2 certified)
• Demonstrated high proficiency in training Project Managers
• Excellent communication skills, written and oral
• Strategic thinking: able to identify and take action on opportunities for increased efficiency
Desirable:
• Experience living and working in the Francophone countries
• Technically proficient with software programs and applications for data collection, and the desire to constantly learn and self troubleshoot when encountering challenges
• Advanced Excel skills
• Certification CAPM, PMP, PRINCE2
• Experience implementing USG-funded projects, DfID or EU funded projects
