Description de l'offre

Food Security & Livelihoods Specialist

Date: 20-Nov-2020
Location: Global Flexibility OR, UK
Company: Plan International

The Organisation

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.

We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it’s girls who are most affected.

Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children.

We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for – and respond to – crises and adversity.
We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.

We have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 80 years, and are now active in more than 70 countries.

The Opportunity

Globally, food and economic insecurity is on the rise and Plan International sees food and economic security as one of the foundational enablers to support our global outcomes and impact on girls.
As the Food Security and Livelihood (FSL) Specialist, you will provide technical leadership on FSL both within the Plan International federation and for external engagement.
You will be responsible for providing technical support to Plan International country teams in order to successfully design and integrate food security & livelihoods into programme interventions and support implementation through both surge and desk support.

In this role you will work closely with other teams, departments and National Organisations within Plan to ensure that all our work contributes to strengthening FSL.
You will support new emergency responses, provide capacity building/on the job training and support emergency preparedness.
You will be expected to travel for 50% of your time to provide technical assistance to country offices.

The Individual

We are looking to recruit a strong communicator who has a Master’s degree, or equivalent experience, in supporting the development of programme guidance in international development.
You will have up-to-date knowledge of FSL programming approaches, ideally from a girls’ rights perspective, and you will have experience of working in an International NGO/the UN.
You will also have knowledge of and commitment to the international humanitarian principles, codes, guidelines and cluster system.

To be successful in this role you will have a high competency in computer-based communications and you will have the ability to manage competing demands and deadlines.
You will be able to network effectively and build strong working relationships with colleagues from across the organisation. Your written and spoken English will be excellent and you will also demonstrate an awareness and sensitivity to gender and diversity.

Location: Global Hub (Woking, UK where we are all currently working from home due to Government restrictions) or in most locations where Plan International has a legal entity and you have the pre-existing right to live and work.
Our preference is for roles to be based as close to the point of impact as possible

Type of Role: 12 month FTC
Reports to: Head of DRM Technical Team
Salary: We will be happy to disclose the salary and applicable benefits to applicants as part of this process, however, please kindly note that this will vary according to the location of the appointed candidate and therefore, it is not possible to include full details here.
The salary for an appointed candidate based in the UK will be in the range of £40,000 - £45,000

Closing Date: Friday 11 December 2020

Early application is encouraged as we will review applications throughout the advertising period and reserve the right to close the advert early.

Equality, diversity and inclusion is at the very heart of everything that Plan International stands for.

We want Plan International to reflect the diversity of the communities we work with, offering equal opportunities to everyone regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.

Plan International is based on a culture of inclusivity and we strive to create a workplace environment that ensures every team, in every office, in every country, is rich in diverse people, thoughts, and ideas.

We foster an organisational culture that embraces our commitment to racial justice, gender equality, girls’ rights and inclusion.

Plan International believes that in a world where children face so many threats of harm, it is our duty to ensure that we, as an organisation, do everything we can to keep children safe.
This means that we have particular responsibilities to children that we come into contact with and we must not contribute in any way to harming or placing children at risk.

A range of pre-employment checks will be undertaken in conformity with Plan International's Safeguarding Children and Young People policy. Plan International also participates in the Inter Agency Misconduct Disclosure Scheme.
In line with this scheme we will request information from applicants previous employers about any findings of sexual exploitation, sexual abuse and/or sexual harassment during employment, or incidents under investigation when the applicant left employment.
By submitting an application, the job applicant confirms their understanding of these recruitment procedures.
